Over the past 30 years, the long term (creep) load characteristics of Tensar RE uniaxial geogrids have undergone extensive study and there is independent certification that shows their suitability for reinforced soil structures, with a design life of 120 years. Tensar RE uniaxial geogrids are highly durable and very robust and their long term strength and partial factors used to determine design strength have been rigorously tested and documented. Available in a range of strengths, they are characterised by long, slim apertures and integral junctions, designed to interlock with fill materials.

Tensar RE uniaxial geogrids have been given accreditation for use in retaining walls and bridge abutments as well as in soil slopes by a number of independent government and other certifying agencies around the world and are all manufactured in accordance with Quality and Environmental Management Systems which comply with the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001:2015 and BS EN ISO 14001:2015 respectively.

Tensar RE geogrids meet the New Zealand Transport (NZTA) clause 6.8.1 of the Bridge Manual 3rd edition.

Function

Tensar RE geogrid is suitable for a wide range of applications from shallow slopes to vertical walls. Tensar RE geogrid can be joined using bodkins to reduce wastage on site and provide an efficient mechanical connector for concrete panel retaining walls. Tensar RE geogrid can be positively connected to the Keystone TW3 modular block using a specially developed connection system. The versatility and robustness of Tensar RE geogrid allows its use with most engineered fill types.

Applications

Soil reinforcement for retaining walls and slopes

Tensar RE uniaxial geogrids are used in the construction of retaining walls and soil slopes. The uniaxial geogrid reinforces the soil by containing the lateral earth pressures. Tensar geogrids are manufactured from high quality HDPE which is non-biodegradable and resistant to soil chemicals.

Retaining walls & bridge abutments

Tensar RE uniaxial geogrids are used to reinforce soil mass in retaining wall systems. The geogrids connect with several different block systems, concrete panels and steel mesh panels to form a retaining wall. They can also be used as a wraparound facing.

Slopes & slip repairs

Tensar RE geogrids allow slopes of any angle to be constructed using a range of fills. Reinforcing soil slopes in this way is a fast, cost-effective way of building embankment and slip repairs that require a steep face angle.

Advantages

Tensar RE uniaxial geogrids are UV resistant with no artificial or welded joints. They have strong rigid apertures and versatile facing options. Tensar RE geogrids are manufactured to ISO 9001 quality standards. We also offer design support.

Other advantages:

  • Independently certified long term strength properties
  • Exceptional chemical resistance 120-year design life
  • Design for use in a wide range of fill types
  • Easy to handle rolls

Installation

Uniaxial geogrids have a superior ability to interlock with soil, which makes them suitable for use in projects with long-term exposure. They are robust and damage-resistant and do not require specialist construction skills.

Design Support

The integral junctions and stiff transverse ribs of Tensar uniaxial geogrids allow for the use of purpose-made connectors, to form high strength connection to modular blocks in Keystone TW3 retaining wall system. Our team of experienced engineers are able to offer a design and supply service for the TW3 system and are available to help you find the most suitable solution for your project.
