Geofabrics will be hosting seminars in September, 2015 on ‘Understanding and Harnessing the Stabilisation Effect of Geogrids in Pavement Designs’. Download seminar flyer.
The stabilisation effect of geogrids in unpaved and paved roads has been measured and assessed with full scale laboratory and field trafficking trials over the last 30 years with a more recent focus on in-situ performance evaluation techniques. Over this time, the benefits of stabilisation have been recognised by various international authorities.
The International guest speaker is world renowned independent expert Dr. Jie Han who is a professor in geotechnical engineering at the Department of Civil, Environmental & Architectural Engineering at the University of Kansas. Dr. Han received his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1997.
Dr. Han’s research has focused on geosynthetics, earth-retaining structures, ground improvement, pile foundations, and pavement design. He has published nearly 300 technical papers in journals and conference proceedings, and recently authored a textbook titled ‘Principles and Practice of Ground Improvement’.
Attending this seminar will provide you with a full background on the important Giroud-Han Design Method for Unpaved Roads, together with an understanding of the Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Method, the different design approach needed for various geosynthetics and the importance of research.
